I worked with Coach Paul for my 22nd marathon and it made a huge difference not only in how ready I was but also in how confident I felt. I strongly recommend training with Coach Paul. It is a game changer to have a training plan tailored to the course. Paul provides clear instructions, often with videos, so the purpose of each run is clear. He was readily available and checked in frequently. But the best part was his breakdown of the course and instructions on how to small set goals at various mile markers to track my progress on race day. I followed his instructions and set goals based on my 20+ weeks of training. Having him confirm that my race goals were within reach protected me when the race got difficult in the final 5 miles. Rather than worrying that I had gone out too fast I could affirm that I was “working my plan and my plan was completely within my reach.” Paul got me to the starting line feeling like I had already “earned” the PR and just needed to go “collect” it at the finish line!

Coach Paul is wonderful, and his program just works! I was able to cut over 30 minutes off my previous marathon time and qualify for Boston on my 2nd ever marathon. If you are willing to put in the work- he will get you where you want to go! Outside of the program being great, Paul is great. He cares about his runners. He is responsive and helpful. He is able to answer questions and able to provide resources (I injured myself and he was able to get my back quickly). If you want to adjust your goal pace to go faster- he is able to do that. If you want to PR or BQ the Revel online training plan is the way to go. Coach Paul is great! Any time I had a question or needed to modify my plan for any reason he was so helpful. When I was concerned about not reaching my goal pace during training, he would give me words of encouragement. I made sure I followed the plan and would run after work. I would try to get all my miles in for the week and it paid off! It was my fastest marathon and what better race then revel Mt Charleston! I received a PR and BQ’d. Thank you Coach Paul!

The training program provided to me from Coach Paul offered a balanced and challenging set of workouts to prepare me for the downhill marathon at Mt. Charleston. I really liked the variety as compared to other training I have received from other coaching programs. All of the training had a purpose and he provided great detail so you understood the workout. Charleston 1/2 marathon and had the confidence from pre-race strategy to post race cool down that I was ready to reach my goal time. I actually beat the goal by 8 minutes!!I I looked forward to weekly emails from Coach Paul, which detailed the week ahead (sometimes the "weeks" ahead for training blocks) and provided guidance for how we should see the training in light of the big picture of our upcoming race. His pre-race logistics and racing strategy were right on target and helped to provide the true belief the race was going to go well. My BQ quest began in 2014 when I ran my very first marathon. Like most of BQ seekers, hitting that qualifying time and meeting the cut off time seem like a daunting task. I’ve tried various online trainings and joining a running club, but nothing seems to work until I signed up for Coach Paul’s training program for Revel’s Mt. Charleston Marathon. I followed every single training recommendation on his calendar. I exceeded the lowest range on his recommendation for each run, which totaled 993 miles in 24 weeks. The end result was beyond my expectations. I qualified for the Boston Marathon with 3:24:50- a 10:10 minute cushion for my age group, 55-59. Once again, thank you Coach Paul Carmona. Coach Paul is a great coach. I've been following his program for a few years since my first marathon with a time of 3:44. The training plans and advice he provides are first class. I've run 8 marathons, and in my mid-40's, he has helped me run some of my best races - including a 2:56 on the REVEL Mt.Charleston Marathon. That was a PR of 15 minutes, and a BQ minus 23 minutes. Coach Paul has a great response rate, well-tailored workouts and is knowledgeable. I highly recommend him to anyone training for a downhill course.

Training for a marathon is no joke. It takes so much time and effort. Having all the right tools can make the world of a difference! I’ve tried a few times for a BQ it took a while but last November after giving everything I had I finally got a BQ, but only a with a 10 second "buffer." I gave that race everything. I felt defeat. I didn’t think I wanted to try again. Long story short I registered for Mt Charleston. If I was going to try again I was going to do it right. I hired coach Paul. He had a few training plans to choose from. I got on the advanced one. I won’t lie - when I looked over the training plan I had little faith I could pull off what was asked. I decided to take one week at a time. Some weeks I hit the paces, others I was off. I felt like I wasn’t going to get my goal time. I had a billon worries and questions that Paul was great at helping and answering. Race day came. I was of course freaked out. I tried to remember all his advice and trust in the training. The marathon didn’t kill me. I ended up with a BQ and a 9:29 buffer! Having the right tools saved me. I 100% believe it was from the training program.

Coach Paul and Coach Katie are phenomenal coaches. After just finishing my second marathon (REVEL Mt. Charleston) I was able to PR 22 minutes off my first marathon. I've learned a lot from them. Important to note, when training for a full marathon (with a coach), it's best to follow the plan. For me, I learned the hard way in doing not only the designated plan, but high intensity cycling and many Strava KOM attempts. Point being, I injured myself. Shocking, I know. We learn from our mistakes. I look forward to having Coach Paul as a coach for an upcoming marathon with a BQ goal!

Following Paul's plan for Mt. Charleston was the smartest training decision I ever made. In addition to the workout schedule and detailed videos, he was always available to answer questions and offer advice. I have never felt stronger before a race. So happy with my training with Coach Paul! My first REVEL Race was Mt Charleston Marathon in 2018. I had no idea how to train for a downhill race since I had only been running since 2012 (first race was a HM at age 63 on a dare from my husband). I love a challenge, but knew I needed a plan. And that was Coach Paul's training plan and I BQ'd on the Mt Charleston course and ran my first Boston Marathon in 2019. The next REVEL Race was in Hawaii, which was the Kulia Marathon, and once again, Coach Paul was my coach. And I BQ'd again! Crazy Covid hit, but I used my time from Kulia to qualify for the 2022 Boston Marathon. Once again, Paul's training plan and support not only got me across the finish line at Boston, but I BQ'd there with a 12-minute cushion! His plan is solid and I know if I follow it, I have the confidence and miles on my feet to succeed. I have been trying to qualify for Boston and ran Big Bear Marathon last year with a 4:01. Decided after last year's race I needed to get serious about training if I was going to shave 6 minutes off my time for a BQ of 3:55. So I signed up for the Revel training program immediately after last year's race. My training started in June for the November 18th race. I ran cottonwood in September with a 3:55:30 missed bq by 30 sec. But still would not have got me into Boston. Still followed the training plan right up to race day and I was so shocked! I ran Big Bear in 3:40:25! That'd a 15 minute buffer for my BQ! I never dreamed I would be fast enough to run the Boston Marathon. Thank you coach Paul! BOSTON BOUND 2025!

Coach Paul's program allowed me to succeed at Revel Big Bear far beyond my hopes and expectations, earning both a coveted BQ and an unplanned NYQ with big cutoff margins. The challenge of the training was enjoyable and the weekly variety of workouts kept me from getting bored with routine. Coach Paul is very quick to reply with personalized answers to questions. Supplementing running with the RunTrainRace Strength program allowed me to reach the start line injury free, complete the downhill distance without quad fatigue or cramping, and provided for a much easier post-race recovery.

It had been six years since my previous marathon PR and I thought my fastest days were behind me. Committing to Coach Paul’s program (running and strength training) allowed me to build volume injury free and get to the start line with a new level of confidence. His guidance on race day strategy was incredibly helpful and the fact that I was able to reach my stretch goal of a sub 3 hour marathon exceeded my expectations. Would highly recommend to anyone serious about pursuing their race goals. When I ran the Philly marathon in 2017, training on my own, I thought my 3:25 would be the fastest marathon of my life. This past year, finding a renewed interest in running as a near 40 year old I wanted to make one more attempt to BQ. Making the same mistakes as before, I ran a half marathon in January as a benchmark race falling well short of my goal at a 1:42. Wanting to take a more focused approached I subscribed to the Revel Coaching program with Paul Carmona. Knowing there would be strength demands for the downhill pounding I began to weightlifting on my own, but found I was never fully recovered for the weekend long runs, so I subscribed to the RunTrainRace strength training. This focused effort allowed me to build volume in a manner I hadn’t done any a marathon cycle previously, incorporate strength training with consistency, and get to the start line healthy and injury free. Paul was available for questions throughout the programming and had great advice for a race plan. I did the work, but without the race specific guidance, I know things wouldn’t have come together like they did when I went Sub 3 hours and set a new PR by nearly a half an hour. Thanks Paul.

I have used Coach Paul’s training plan on several occasions now. My first race using it brought in a PR of 45 minutes. Since then, I have BQ’d 4 times with his program. I have never felt more strongly, self confident and faith in my races all because of Coach Paul’s Running Plan. I have run four previous marathons with varying levels of success, and I have tried several different training plans but never hired a coach. I decided to go all in on this year's Mt Charleston Marathon and signed up with Coach Paul to help me train. He provided a custom training plan based on my race goals and experience level as well as specialized strength training program to help my legs endure the high demands of the Revel downhill courses. In 20+ years of marathoning, Revel Mt Charleston was the first time I had ever used a coach. As a mid-pack runner on my best days, a BQ has always been a pie-in-the-sky dream for me. I signed up for coaching with Paul to help me get there. The advanced training plan was necessarily challenging but I could feel myself becoming a stronger and faster runner. The variety of the interval workouts was nice and the videos were helpful. Paul was always responsive with any questions I had. A month before the race, I tripped and injured my foot and was off running for 10 days. Paul helped with strategies on how to help get back to running and how to adjust my training so close to race day. In the end, I PR’ed by 21 minutes, breaking 4:00 for the first time. Paul’s talk at the expo really helped me feel prepared for the course. I missed BQ by 5 minutes but I’m planning to continue with Coach Paul and will try again next year.
